Hey... would you go for keeping a bucket out back? You know like a second bathroom? JK

Uhhh Sorry honey I saw the post and I don't think so. :) I don't want a bucket of poop sitting anywhere near where I eat or sleep. Gross What's next a bucket on the roof that you pour in water to shower with? Forget I said that.

Thanks Kent. You know I had a bit of gross fun with this post... I bet everone would appreciate a post with a bit more or a serious tone :-) Have at it my friend!

And with all seriousness... I think this sawdust toilet idea is great. It would take some getting used to but it sure makes a lot of sense especially in circumstances where other options are just not available or easy.

Hey Michael,

You beat me to it again :-) I was planning and still may write a report on this one on my blog. Jay Shafer actually uses this composting toilet in his tiny house. At his workshop he explained it to us and highly recommended it. You wouldn't know he uses it because he put in a real toilet that has a wide opening for the bucket. Since so many people view his house and ask if you can have real plumbing etc. He thought it should be presented that way.
