Here is an interesting extreme example of one man’s solution to living free. Dan Price lives in a hole, or is it more like a hobbit house? He lives in a simple semi-underground house in Joseph, Oregon. I’m certain most people would want more comfort but it is inspiring to see this video on YouTube and read his story on Treehugger.
Even if you could never imagine living the way Dan does, try to take something with you from the idea. Also try to imagine the freedom he’s bought himself by choosing to live free. Very inspiring. Also check out Dan’s book, Radical Simplicity. Photo Credit: Lynette Chiang.
Too bad I don’t have enough room to store this many pallets… or a truck big enough to get them. I wonder how many tiny houses could be built with 75-100 oversized pallets? LOL

I’m embarking on a little experiment. I’m going to build a tiny house, 90 square feet, that’s a cross between Henry David Thoreau‘s cabin at Walden Pond and a Tumbleweed-like Tiny House on wheels. But I’m going to build it without spending any money. There will be some things I won’t be able to scavenge. For these items I’ll sell things I find for free on craigslist.org. In the end I hope to have a tiny free house. This blog will be a record of the project. I also suspect that when I’m done I’ll write it all up in a book too.
